Envoy Textiles Ltd., the #1 manufacturer of denim fabric in Bangladesh, has taken a path-breaking step by setting up hand-looms for producing eco-friendly, hand-woven, selvedge denim, within its premises.

For the first time, high speed automatic looms and manually powered hand-looms will weave warp and weft, under the same roof.

The entire project has been executed by Denim Club India, as a part of it’s Handloom Denim Initiative, involving supply, erection and commissioning of the hand-looms. Denim Club also trained weavers and helpers – drawn from the local populace – and enabled them to weave denim fabric of different weights and constructions on the hand-operated looms. The training also covered preparation of warp beams, drawing in and knotting of warp, and setting up and cording of the heald-wire frames and foot-pedals.

The hand-loom machines. specially designed by Denim Club, fabricated in India, and then shipped in completely knocked down condition, to Bangladesh, by road.

The unpacking, assembling and running-in of the looms was done in a record time of 10 days, under the personal supervision of Mr. Rajesh Dudeja, Founder of Denim Club India.
